The City 8 League presented by the Chicago Golf Gals (CGG) is a coed, social golf league designed for the summer time in the city. Offering a men’s and women’s division that are open to all skill levels. Come for the friendly competition, camaraderie, fun and golf, but stay for the positive vibes.

The schedule consists of the 8 nearest golf courses relative to downtown Chicago and are a mix of (5) 9 hole courses and (3) 18 hole courses. Members are given 2 weeks to play each event, this way you can catch golden hour during the week or play on the weekends when it's convenient for you. Members are responsible for booking their own tee times and paying their own greens fee so that you can play as much or as little as your schedule allows.

The Unknown Golf (UG) app is a one stop shop for all things City 8. The UG chat is great for members or groups looking to pair up. Enjoy the walk or ride in arguably the best summer city in the world, with a drink in hand while playing the greatest game ever played. When is registration for the 2025 season? 3/21 - 4/28

What is the league fee and what does it go towards? $300

  • League fee goes towards an Unknown Golf+ membership (app), scoring software, event payouts, championship day prize pool and website maintenance

  • Is a handicap required to join? No. All members of the local golf community are encouraged to join!

  • How do we book tee times and who pays for green fees? Members are responsible for booking their own tee times and paying their own greens fee so that you can play as much or as little as your schedule allows

  • What are the payouts & prizes?

    • Event Payouts - Gross Score

      • Digital Visa Gift Cards (payouts & payout positions based on 100 members)

        • The Top 5 in both the Men’s & Women’s division are paid out for each event

          • 1st - $150

          • 2nd - $125

          • 3rd - $100

          • 4th - $75

          • 5th - $50

    • Championship Prize Pool (prizes & prize positions based on 100 members)

      • The Top 5 in points in the Men’s & Women’s division will receive the following:

  • How are points earned at each event? Points are earned based on your gross finishing position for each event. All players earn points for completing an event. Championship points are worth double!

  • Are there any age restrictions? 16 and over

  • Are there assigned tees at each event? No, play from wherever you like it ain’t that serious. If you suck, try to suck faster!

  • Do I have to play in each event? No, you play as much or as little as your schedule allows. Everyone makes Championship day

  • If I don’t know anyone playing in this can I join as a single? Yes, members have access to the Unknown Golf chat where they can easily communicate with other members or groups looking to pair up

  • If I miss an event can I make up it at a later date? No, all scores are final once said event has closed. You must play & post your score within the 2 week event window

  • What is the benefit of playing in something like this? Fun & friendly competition, schedule flexibility, social networking, a reason to get together with family & friends and access to a community of like-minded golfers
